Volunteer Needs:
Prince George's County
We has two projects that are in need of talented and passionate volunteers:
Project #1:
NDC's Prince George's County office is looking
for a geo-engineering firm that is willing to donate services to extract several core samples on our wetland education center site next to the Anacostia River. We are dealing with a site that is all 'fill', which is probably years old and we need to know the level of compaction if possible.
Project #2:
NDC is also seeking a Graphic Artist to design wayfaring signage for Decatur Street in Edmonston. This town is turning the street into a Green Street, which will incorporate bio-retention areas and enhanced landscaping. The signage will be installed along the street to highlight the improvements being made, other ‘green’ initiatives in the Town, and various local landmarks. NDC staff can help with research and production of text, but we need a graphic designer to design the actual sign template and fit the information on that template.
Please contact Jan Townshend on 301-779-6010 or jtownshend@ndc-md.org if you can assist with any of these volunteer opportunities.
BALTIMORE
A Landscape Architect/Designer is needed to help conduct a "Neighborhood Tree Walk" on Wednesday, May 26, 6 - 7:30pm in the Richnor Springs neighborhood in north central Baltimore. The purpose of the walk is to help residents about what types of trees are appropriate for their yards, what they want to look for and consider in choosing trees, and how to locate a tree. Staff from the Neighborhood Design Center and TreeBaltimore will be on hand to assist in the walk. This is a great opportunity to help the City's efforts to increase its tree canopy. If interested, contact Mark Cameron at 410-233-9686 x102.
