Thank you to everyone who participated in NDC's "Power of Place" fundraising event - celebrating the power of community design!
On November 11, 2009, over 125 people attended NDC's "Power of Place" celebration at the Creative Alliance. To celebrate and highlight the power of place in creating great neighborhoods, the evening included the presentation of the 2009 Larry Reich Award to Sandy Sparks, a discussion with local filmmaker Matthew Porterfield and a sneak preview at his latest movie "Putty Hill", and our annual silent auction featuring a selection of local gifts and art by our volunteers and members. Thank you to DJ Kempton Ingersol for spinning great tunes throughout the evening and to our caterer Water for Chocolate. Finally, a big thanks goes to the Event Planning Committee for all of their hard work - Marian Gillis (Event Chair), Barbara Aylesworth, Nicole Lacoste Folks, Harriett Roberts Harvey, and Peter Notari.

Through the generosity of our sponsors and friends, we were able to raise $17,000 to support the pro-bono planning and design assistance we provide throughout Baltimore and Prince George's County - services that are helping people build new playgrounds, reclaim vacant lots and abandoned buildings, revitalize commercial districts, create community master plans, and beautify neighborhoods.
In particular, we would like to thank the following sponsors for their support:
