Abbottston Energy Wednesday
December 7, 2011
The December 7th Abbottston Energy Wednesday was the fourth NDC Community Energy Savers Program event. The Energy Wednesday began with a brief welcome from the NDC’s Community Energy Savers VISTA followed by a complimentary community dinner. After the dinner, William Russell introduced the Baltimore Neighborhood Energy Challenge (BNEC), had participating adults take the BNEC pledge, and distributed BNEC pledge kits. Next children were invited to adjourn to an adjacent room for an age-appropriate, energy-themed lesson led by Missy Doot and Renee Goodenow from BNEC. Meanwhile, a BGE Community Outreach team member gave a presentation on no-cost and low-cost home energy efficiency improvements, and Waverly Ace Hardware employee Bill Burch demonstrated a series of DIY home energy upgrades. Following these demonstrations, adult participants were given a free DIY home energy kit so they could implement the demonstrated energy upgrades. Finally, the Abbottston Energy Wednesday concluded with a celebratory Energy Savers raffle.
