MRAL Banners

                               banner sign plan - selected banner dimension - concept 1 - concept 2 - concept 3 - concept 4

The design of the MRAL Banners has been a collaborative design process whereby all artists have been invited to participate in designing the banners with NDC staff and volunteer graphic designer, Corey T. Beasley.  The purpose of the MRAL Banners is to highlight the diverse array of artwork that is being created by artists who live and work in the building, and so their involvement in the design process was pertinent.  Through this process we created a banner sign plan, chose dimensions for the banners that we will produce, and created a design strategy for the banners, which involved collecting images of artwork from the Artist Loft residents.

There will be four banners located on the facade of the building that faces onto Rhode Island Avenue.  Each banner will be designed to highlight a type of artist (Dance, Musician, Singer, and Visual Artist) in the foreground, placed overtop of a collage of images in the background.
